Tokyo stocks gain ground in morning on hopes for U.S.-China summit

TOKYO, Nov. 28 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks gained ground Wednesday morning as investors were heartened by U.S. President Donald Trump's economic advisor remarking that a trade deal may be struck between the United States and China during a summit between both sides later this week.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average added 195.86 points, or 0.89 percent, from Tuesday to 22,148.26.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, gained 4.19 points, or 0.25 percent, at 1,648.35.

Marine transportation, pharmaceutical, and information and communication-oriented issues comprised those that gained the most by the morning break. Enditem
