KIEV -- Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko signed the legislation on imposing the martial law in border regions over tensions with Russia around the Kerch Strait, the presidential press service said on Wednesday.

The martial law starts at 9 a.m. local time (0700 GMT) Wednesday and will be effective for thirty days till Dec. 26. (Ukraine-Martial Law)

CAPE TOWN -- South Africa views the upcoming G20 Summit as an opportunity to advance global governance reforms and reorient the international developmental agenda, the Presidency said on Wednesday.

South Africa also takes the summit as a platform from which to promote and strengthen interests of the African continent and of the South, the Presidency said before President Cyril Ramaphosa leaves for Buenos Aires, Argentina to take part in the summit that will take place between November 30 and December 1. ISLAMABAD -- Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan said on Wednesday that Pakistan and India need to break the shackles of the past and stop blaming each other so as to improve relations for the welfare of the peoples of the two sides.

Addressing the groundbreaking ceremony of a corridor along the country's border with India in a move to facilitate Indian Sikh pilgrims across the border, the prime minister said the Pakistani government, army and all the political parties are on the same page for good relations with the eastern neighbor India. LASHKAR GAH, Afghanistan -- More than a dozen civilians were among over 30 killed in airstrikes against armed militants in Garmsir district of Afghanistan's southern Helmand province on Tuesday, an official said on the condition of anonymity on Wednesday.

The official emphasized that the fighting aircrafts in the quest of Taliban militants targeted a house in Zanziri Darab area of Garmsir district late Tuesday night, killing 16 Taliban insurgents and more than a dozen civilians including women and children. (Afghanistan-Airstrikes)

MEXICO CITY -- Most of the Group of 20 (G20) members continue to favor multilateralism, Mexican Deputy Finance Minister Miguel Messmacher told Xinhua here in a recent interview.
