NEW DELHI -- Three people including a local level leader of Hindu right-wing organization were arrested in the killing of a police officer by a mob in northern Indian state of Uttar Pradesh, police said Tuesday.

Subodh Kumar Singh, an inspector in police, was killed when protesters led by right-wing Hindu groups clashed with police over their alleged inaction to prevent cow slaughter in the area.(India-Mob-Cow Slaughter)

JERUSALEM -- The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced Tuesday they would launch "operation northern shield" on Israel's northern border after finding several cross-border tunnels allegedly constructed by Hezbollah.

Head of the international media branch at the IDF's spokesperson's unit Lt. Col. Jonathan Conricus told reporters during a phone briefing that this is "the first stage of the operation," in which the aim is "to expose and thwart cross border attack tunnels dug by Hezbollah." MAIMANA, Afghanistan -- At least five militants were killed and seven others injured as fighting aircrafts targeted a Taliban gathering in Qaramqul district of the northern Faryab province on Monday, an army spokesman said Tuesday.

The sorties, according to an army spokesman in the northern region Nazar Khuda Pamiri, were conducted against a Taliban gathering on Monday afternoon, killing five insurgents on the spot and wounding seven others. (Afghanistan-Militants-Raid)
