BEIRUT, Dec. 4 (Xinhua) -- French Minister of National Defense Florence Parly said Tuesday that France is committed to supporting the Lebanese army, local media reported.

"We appreciated the role played by Lebanon and France is committed to supporting the Lebanese army and other national institutions," Parly was quoted by the National News Agency as saying.

Parly's remarks came during her meeting with Caretaker Minister of Defense Yaacoub Sarraf at Beirut's airport.

The two discussed the French military donation promised for the Lebanese army during Rome 2 conference, in addition to the current situation and latest developments in Lebanon and the broader region.

Lebanon received late last month a new batch of French military equipment as part of France's aid program to the Lebanese army, local media reported.

The equipment bundle included 10 Mephisto armored vehicles, 96 long-range anti-tank HOT missiles, and two fire shooting simulation systems. Enditem
