TORONTO, Dec. 4 (Xinhua) -- A photo exhibition showcasing the landscape, people and wildlife of western China kicked off here on Tuesday.

The exhibition held at the Royal Ontario Museum showcases nearly 100 photos featuring the fascinating beauty of China's west.

Chinese Consul General to Toronto Han Tao told Xinhua that the Toronto consulate held the exhibition to introduce the nature, culture and modern development of China's western region.

"By enjoying photos of the beautiful scenery and various ethnic Chinese groups, the Canadian people can have a more comprehensive understanding of China. I hope the exhibition could prompt more Canadians to visit the region," Han said.

Sheref Sabawy, a member of Ontario's provincial parliament, was among the attendees. "The nature and mountains and a variety of scenery are amazing," he said. "I'm always fascinated by China, actually." Enditem
