LJUBLJANA, Dec. 5 (Xinhua) -- Slovenian police officers on skis who provide security in ski resorts will get a new series of skis manufactured by Elan in the coming ski season, national media reported on Wednesday.

The Elan Amphibio 14 series bears the colours of the Slovenian police and is equipped with technology which enables faster turns, said the Slovenian Press Agency STA.

The skis are white and blue and their upper parts are painted in a reflective yellow colour, which enables police officers to make a cross and secure the site of a possible accident, the STA reported quoting a Elan announcement.

Elan is a Slovenian company located in Begunje na Gorenjskem in central Slovenia, specializing in the production of sporting goods with its best-known skis and snowboards.

The role of police officers in ski resorts is to watch what happens on ski slopes and pistes, to detect skiers who could pose a threat to themselves or others, and to eliminate skiers who behave dangerously.

They also help in rescue efforts in the case of injuries or accidents and establish responsibility for accidents. Enditem
