WASHINGTON -- Paul Manafort, former Donald Trump campaign chairman, lied to prosecutors about his contacts with the White House and an associate with ties to Russian intelligence while he was under investigation, special counsel Robert Mueller's office said in a court filing here Friday.

TOKYO -- The Japanese parliament passed a bill on Saturday that would pave the way for the nation to formally open its doors to foreign blue-collar workers amid severe labor shortage.

LOS ANGELES -- NASA's InSight lander, which touched down on Mars last week, has provided the first ever "sounds" of Martian winds on the Red Planet, said NASA on Friday.

InSight sensors captured a haunting low rumble caused by vibrations from the wind, estimated to be blowing between 10 to 15 mph (5 to 7 meters a second) on Dec. 1, from northwest to southeast, according to NASA.(US-NASA-InSight-Mars)

PARIS -- French Finance Minister Bruno Le Maire said on Friday that investments by Chinese telecom technology firm Huawei are "welcome" in his country.
