ISLAMABAD -- At least eight people were killed and 22 others injured in two separate road accidents in Pakistan's eastern Punjab province on Saturday, local reports said.

According to reports, at least five people were killed and five others critically wounded when a rickshaw rammed into an oil tanker coming from the opposite direction on Sargodha road in Sheikhupura, a city in Punjab province. (Pakistan-Road Accidents)

ROME -- At least six people were killed and 100 others injured in a stampede overnight at a nightclub in central Italy, local media and authorities said Saturday.

The victims were five minors -- three girls and two boys -- and a 40-year-old woman who had accompanied her daughter to the disco "Lanterna Azzurra" in the town of Corinaldo near Ancona, about 200 km northeast of Rome, Ansa news agency said. (Italy-Stampede-Nightclub)

PARIS -- Police arrested 317 people on Saturday "as a preventive measure" to avoid violence from escalating here as hundreds of "Yellow Vest" protesters were gathering for a fourth weekend demonstration, local media reported.

ISLAMABAD -- Pakistani law enforcement agencies said Saturday they arrested five operatives of Al-Qaeda in Pakistan's eastern province Punjab, local media reported.

Local media quoted official sources as saying that the Counter Terrorism Department of police along with personnel of intelligence agencies and security forces conducted an operation early Saturday morning in Sadar area of Bahawalpur, a district in southern part of Punjab.
