BEIJING -- Chinese stocks closed higher on Tuesday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index up 0.37 percent at 2,594.09 points.

The Shenzhen Component Index closed 0.79 percent higher at 7,685.40 points.

SYDNEY -- The Australian share market finished higher on Friday with tech stocks and healthcare surging to lift the index.

At the market close, the benchmark S&P/ASX 200 index was up 23.40 points or 0.42 percent at 5,575.90, while the broader All Ordinaries index was up 23.70 points or 0.42 percent at 5,651.20.

SEOUL -- Seoul shares ended almost unchanged Tuesday.

The benchmark Korea Composite Stock Price Index (KOSPI) inched down 0.82 points, or 0.04 percent, to settle at 2,052.97. Trading volume stood at 267 million shares worth 4.9 trillion won (4.4 billion U.S. dollars).

MANILA -- Philippine shares closed 1.40 percent higher on Tuesday.

The benchmark Philippine Stock Exchange index increased by 102.87 points to 7,451.08. The all-share index went up by 37.59 points, or 0.85 percent, to 4,478.73.

TOKYO -- Tokyo stocks closed lower Tuesday on market concerns about delay of a key parliamentary vote connected to Britain's exit from the European Union, coupled with jitters over Japan-U.S. trade talks on Japanese automakers.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average lost 71.48 points, or 0.34 percent, from Monday to close the day at 21,148.02.

PHNOM PENH -- Cambodia's stocks finished higher on Tuesday, with the Cambodia Securities Exchange Index up 3.94 points, or 1.01 percent, to close at 395.7.

A total of 6,065 shares worth 21.2 million riel (5,271 U.S. dollars) were traded.

HONG KONG -- Hong Kong stocks closed up 19.29 points, or 0.07 percent, to 25,771.67 points on Tuesday.

The benchmark Hang Seng Index traded between 25,623.4 and 25,861.73. Turnover totaled 65.06 billion Hong Kong dollars (about 8.33 billion U.S. dollars).

KUALA LUMPUR -- The Malaysian stock market ended lower here on Tuesday.

The Kuala Lumpur Composite Index (KLCI) was at 1,652.63, down 10.68 points or 0.64 percent, and the Emas was at 11,384.67 down 78.83 points or 0.69 percent.

VIENTIANE -- The Lao stock market closed on Tuesday down 0.98 percent compared to the previous trading day.

The Lao Securities Exchange composite index decreased by 8.07 points to reach 819.19 points after closing.

HANOI -- Stock market index of Vietnam's capital Hanoi, HNX-Index, closed at 106.59 points on Tuesday, down 0.23 points or 0.21 percent from the previous trading session.

Prices of 58 stocks went up, 79 stocks dropped, while 237 stocks remained unchanged.

HO CHI MINH CITY -- VN-Index, the stock market index of Ho Chi Minh City bourse in southern Vietnam, closed at 954.58 points on Tuesday, down 1.31 points, or 0.14 percent, against the previous trading day's closing session.

Over 180.822 million shares worth 3.972 trillion Vietnamese dong (172.7 million U.S. dollars) changed hands at the Ho Chi Minh City Stock Exchange. Prices of 118 stocks rose, 174 stocks decreased, and 86 stocks remained unchanged.

MUMBAI -- Indian markets closed higher Tuesday.
