MADRID, Dec. 11 (Xinhua) -- FC Barcelona have hit winger Ousmane Dembele with a fine of around 100,000 euros (1 euro =1.13 US dollars) according to reports in the Spanish media.

The fine was imposed on the Frenchman after he reported two hours late for Sunday’s 11am training session following Barca’s 4-0 win away to local rivals Espanyol on Saturday night.

It is not the first time Dembele has broken the club’s code of conduct and he was recently dropped from the squad by coach Ernesto Valverde after neglecting to inform the club he was missing training after feeling ill.

Dembele has, however, been included in the squad for Tuesday night’s Champions League tie at home to Tottenham Hotspurs, with his recent upturn in form, starting to win over fans who were disappointed with his first injury-hit season at the club.

The season the 21-year-old has already scored 6 goals in the Liga Santander, twice as many as the 3 he netted in his first season after Barca paid over 100 million euros for his services from Borussia Dortmund.

On Monday Dembele was the target for the jokes of his companions at Barca’s training ground and it escaped nobody’s notice, that after arriving two hours late on Sunday, he was an hour early on Monday. Enditem
