LONDON, Dec. 11 (Xinhua) -- British stocks rose on Tuesday, with the benchmark FTSE 100 Index up by 1.27 percent, or 85.40 points, to close at 6,806.94 points.
Anglo American, a globally diversified mining business, soared 5.50 percent, the top gainer of the blue chips. Wood Group (John) and WPP increased by 4.99 percent and 4.84 percent respectively.
Standard Life Aberdeen, an investment company, was the worst performer in the blue chips, with its shares losing 1.90 percent.
