ACCRA, Dec. 12 (Xinhua) -- Ghana’s Asante Kotoko Soccer Club left Accra on Tuesday for Ethiopia to prepare for their Confederation of African Football (CAF) Confederation Cup match against Kenya’s Kariobangi Sharks.
The team of 18 players will stay in Ethiopia for one day before flying to Kenya for the fist leg of the first round qualifying tie at the Kasarani stadium on Saturday.
Ahead of the encounter, Asante Kotoko’s chief executive officer George Amoako said his side has what it takes to defeat the Sharks.
“We are fully prepared,” Amoako told the local media. “Per the last two matches of Kariobangi Sharks I watched, they are doing well but it is not too much of a task for us. We are well prepared to face them.”
“There is no pressure on Kotoko or whatsoever; we know what we are doing," he added.
During the team’s final preparations for the continental game, Asante Kotoko defeated Ghana’s U-23 team 3-0 in Accra last Sunday.
The second leg of the qualifier will be played in Kumasi on Dec. 22.
Asante Kotoko is the only club from Ghana taking part in the 2019 CAF inter-club competitions. Enditem
