PRAGUE, Dec. 14 (Xinhua) -- Three men, including a Prague regional directorate policeman, have been accused by the Czech General Inspection of Security Forces (GIBS) of planning to sell the horn of a critically endangered white rhinoceros worth about 100,000 U.S. dollars, GIBS spokeswoman Ivana Nguyenova said on Friday.

Nguyenova said they planned to sell the horn in Asia through an Asian accomplice, but failed to complete the plan. They are accused of unlawful handling of protected wild animals and plants but have not been arrested. They face up to five years in jail if found guilty.

The purchase and sale of rhinoceros horns was banned globally starting in 1977. Enditem
