MOSCOW, Dec. 16 (Xinhua) -- The Russian military has distributed food packages and warm clothes to the local population in Tall Daman, a settlement in Syria's war-torn Aleppo, Sputnik news agency reported Sunday, quoting the Russian Defense Ministry's center for Syrian reconciliation.

"In total, we have distributed about 500 humanitarian food packages, as well as warm clothes for the local population, provided by the Akhmad Kadyrov Foundation," Pavel Matreninsky, a representative of the center, was quoted by Sputnik as saying.

Matreninsky added that such operations were carried out on a regular basis.

Besides food and clothes, the Russian military has also carried out medical examinations for the residents.

According to the report, necessary medicines and assistance were provided to the local people, particularly children, many of whom suffer from intestinal and upper respiratory tract infections.

Tall Daman is home to about 700 people, who mainly rely on subsistence farming. Enditem
