-- Confusion has ensued in Zambia's largest trade union, the Zambia Congress of Trade Unions (ZCTU), after some of its affiliates were barred from contesting various positions at its 14th quadrennial congress.(Zambia Daily Mail)
-- The Zambian government has refuted claims that huge quantities of emeralds are being smuggled out of the country.
Minister of Mines Richard Musukwa said reports that 33 percent of Zambia's emeralds found on the international market were smuggled were not true as all emeralds are evaluated by the Geological Survey Department before an export permit was issued. (Daily Nation)
