TOKYO -- The sixth case of swine fever was detected on Tuesday in central Japan as the epidemic crisis escalated, prompting the central government to launch a crisis control unit with Ground Self-Defense Force (GSDF) troops, local media reported on Tuesday.

Following tests which confirmed the virus, also known as hog cholera, at a pig farm in Seki, Gifu Prefecture, the local government began the culling of 7,547 hogs which will be buried later by the 1,600 GSDF troops sent there. (Japan-Swine Fever)

JAKARTA) -- The death toll from the tsunami triggered by a volcanic eruption in Sunda Strait of western Indonesia has climbed to 429 so far, with a total of 1,459 others injured, a spokesman of the national disaster agency said on Tuesday.

The tsunami, triggered by an underwater landslide after the eruption of Anak Krakatau volcano Saturday night, destroyed 882 houses, 73 hotels and villas and scores of buildings along the coastlines, and displaced a total of 16,082 people, according to spokesman of the National Disaster Management Agency Sutopo Purwo Nugroho. KABUL -- A total of 44 people, including four assailants, have been killed in a terrorist attack against two government offices in Kabul, an Afghan Public Health Ministry spokesman said on Tuesday.

"The latest data showed 40 people, including 11 women and 29 men, were martyred and 27 others wounded in Monday's terrorist attack in Kabul," Waheed Majroh told reporters. (Afghanistan-Attack-Deaths)

NEW DELHI -- As many as 45 flights were delayed at Delhi's international airport amid dense foggy conditions and high air pollution levels on Tuesday.
