KABUL -- At least five militants of the Haqqani militant group have been killed following Afghan Air Force airstrikes in two eastern provinces, the Afghan Ministry of Defense said on Friday.

"Five members of Haqqani terrorist network were killed after Air Force struck militants' hideouts on the outskirts of Gardez, capital of eastern Paktia province and Gomal district of eastern Paktika province Thursday," the ministry said in a statement. (Afghanistan-Militants)

TOKYO -- The Japanese Defense Ministry on Friday released video footage of an incident last week in which a South Korean warship locked radar on a Japanese patrol plane.

The ministry has said that a South Korean Navy ship directed fire-control radar at a Japanese Maritime Self-Defense Force (MSDF) P-1 patrol aircraft off the coast of Ishikawa Prefecture, central Japan, around 3:00 p.m. local time on Dec. 20. (Japan-S. Korea-Radar)

SEOUL -- South Korea and the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) on Friday held the meeting of the joint liaison office chiefs in the DPRK's border town of Kaesong to exchange views over inter-Korean relations.

JAKARTA -- A 6.1-magnitude earthquake rocked Indonesia's eastern Papua Barat province on Friday, but no tsunami warning was issued, the meteorology and geophysics agency said.

NEW DELHI -- At least five people were killed and few others injured after a fire broke out inside a high-rise building in India's financial capital city of Mumbai, officials said Friday.
