LONDON, Jan. 2 (Xinhua) -- Liverpool coach Jurgen is to take his table topping side to face Manchester City in the Ethiad Stadium on Thursday night, hoping to open up 10-point lead over last season's champions, but the German is still wary of the team he describes as "the best in the world."

Liverpool will travel to Manchester after nine consecutive wins in the Premier League, which have given them a seven-point lead over City and six points over Tottenham, who beat Cardiff City on Tuesday night.

But speaking to the press on Wednesday, Klopp was reluctant to place too much importance on Thursday's game.

"It's a normal game against Manchester City, but a very difficult one, one of the most difficult you can play in modern football. They are a really strong football team with an outstanding manager. Before you play them, you never know."

"The opponent is, for me, still the best in the world," he said.

The Liverpool coach said his side would have to "be prepared as well as possible, be brave, full of desire and angry, as in all the other games."

Klopp also confirmed that midfielder James Milner could be available to face one of his former clubs after suffering from a hamstring injury which had caused him to sit out most of the Christmas period.

The German also insisted that even if his side win in the Ethiad Stadium, it would not knock City out of the title race.

"If we were 10 points behind after the game, then I would say 'we can still catch them', it is the second of January," he highlighted. Enditem
