BEIJING, -- Chinese stocks closed lower Thursday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index down 0.04 percent to 2,464.36.

The Shenzhen Component Index closed 0.84 percent lower at 7,089.44.

HONG KONG -- Hong Kong stocks closed down 65.99 points, or 0.26 percent, to 25,064.36 points on Thursday.

The benchmark Hang Seng Index traded between 24,896.87 and 25,262.21. Turnover totaled 68.35 billion Hong Kong dollars (about 8.73 billion U.S. dollars).

BANGKOK -- The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) index Thursday moved down 5.91 points, or 0.38 percent to close at 1,560.03 points.

Some 11.33 billion shares worth 39.80 billion baht (about 1.24 billion U.S. dollars) changed hands.

MUMBAI -- Indian markets closed lower on Thursday.

Amid an all-round sell-off among sectors, financials, automobiles and metals bled, while investors also dumped in the midcaps space.

JAKARTA -- Indonesia shares closed higher by 39.83 points, or 0.64 percent, to a level of 6,221.01 on Thursday.

KUALA LUMPUR -- The Malaysian stock market ended higher here on Thursday.

SINGAPORE -- Singapore stocks closed lower on Thursday, with the benchmark Straits Times Index (STI) going down 0.86 percent or 26.01 points to close at 3012.88.

A total of 1.16 billion shares changed hands with a turnover of 886.16 million Singapore dollars (about 648.85 million U.S. dollars). Losers outnumbered gainers by 218 to 154.

HANOI -- Stock market index of Vietnam's capital Hanoi, HNX-Index, closed at 100.52 points on Thursday, down 2.15 points or 2.09 percent from the previous trading session.

Over 33.6 million shares worth 422.7 billion Vietnamese dong (18.4 million U.S. dollars) were traded at the Hanoi Stock Exchange on Thursday.

SEOUL -- Seoul shares ended lower Thursday.

The benchmark Korea Composite Stock Price Index (KOSPI) dipped 16.30 points, or 0.81 percent, to settle at 1,993.70. Trading volume stood at 424.2 million shares worth 5.3 trillion won (4.7 billion U.S. dollars).

MANILA -- Philippine shares closed 2.56 percent higher on Thursday.
