TUNIS, Jan. 3 (Xinhua) -- More than 40 Tunisian women and 100 Tunisian children stay in detention centers and camps abroad, said Omar Hajji, representative of the Tunisian Interior Ministry on Thursday.
Tunisia is now facing a real challenge of dealing with the return of women terrorists and their children from conflict areas, Hajji said during a conference themed "terrorism and women" organized in Tunis by the Tunisian Institute of Strategic Studies.
Neji Jalloul, the director of the institute, expressed concerns about the situation of women terrorists returning to Tunisia.
"The use of the internet, including social media, by violent extremists, terrorists and their supporters has been a source of anxiety," Jalloul said.
The director of Tunisia National Center for Children's Information Chokri Maatoug said the prevention of terrorism remains dependent on the communication within the family.
The family must offer necessary psychological care to children and young people to avoid becoming easy targets for terrorist groups. Enditem
