Robbers snatch over 700,000 USD in cash on street in Tokyo

TOKYO, Jan. 5 (Xinhua) -- A man was assaulted and robbed of about 80 million yen (737,124 U.S. dollars) in cash on Saturday in the Roppongi district in Tokyo, Japan, local media reported.

The victim, a 27-year-old precious metals dealer, suffered minor injuries after he was attacked by three men from behind at around 1:55 p.m. local time about 500 meters north of the Roppongi subway station, according to the police.

He was headed on foot to purchase some precious metals with his 29-year-old superior when his roller bag containing the money got robbed.

The search for the three suspects is underway, the police said. Enditem
