NEW DELHI -- Vijay Mallya, a liquor baron and business tycoon in India who is facing charges of loan default and has been staying in Britain, was on Saturday declared as Fugitive Economic Offender (FEO) by a special court.

Mallya is wanted for allegedly defrauding a consortium of banks to the tune of 9, 000 crore Indian Rupees (1.3 billion U.S. dollars). (India-Vijay Mallya-FEO)

TOKYO -- A man was assaulted and robbed of about 80 million yen (737,124 U.S. dollars) in cash on Saturday in the Roppongi district in Tokyo, Japan, local media reported.

The victim, a 27-year-old precious metals dealer, suffered minor injuries after he was attacked by three men from behind at around 1:55 p.m. local time about 500 meters north of the Roppongi subway station, according to the police. (Japan-Robbery)

KABUL -- Armed militants on Saturday intercepted a civilian vehicle in Afghanistan's western Farah province and abducted 12 commuters, in apparent tit-for-tat move against security forces' earlier operation to rescue 12 hostages from a Taliban detention center.

YANGON -- Myanmar's regional police has filed against the Arakan Army (AA) group for Friday's attack on four police outposts in Myanmar's Rakhine state, said a release from the Myanmar Police Force on Saturday.

According to the release, the members of the AA armed group have been filed for all four incidents at the Taung Bazar police station under the 1949 Weapons Act (Temporary Amendment) and 2014 Counter-Terrorism Law. (Myanmar-Police-Attack)

BANGKOK -- Tropical storm Pabuk has killed three people and prompted an evacuation of more than 34,000 villagers in southern Thailand, a senior government official said on Saturday.
