SINGAPORE, Jan. 7 (Xinhua) -- Singapore stocks closed higher on Monday, with the benchmark Straits Times Index (STI) going up 1.42 percent, or 43.57 points, to close at 3,102.8.
A total of 1.39 billion shares changed hands with a turnover of 984.15 million Singapore dollars (about 725.24 million U.S. dollars). Gainers outnumbered losers by 276 to 136.
The STI index went up 1.54 percent, or 46.35 points, to close at 3,059.23 last Friday. Enditem
