JAKARTA, Jan. 7 (Xinhua) -- A total of 16 teams have confirmed participation in the forthcoming Asian Track Championship in Indonesia scheduled to kick off on Tuesday, head of the committee of the regional sporting event Pramana Nugroho said here today.

Host Indonesia has set a target of one title in the regional sport event, coach of the Indonesian team Dadang Haris said.

Racers from 14 teams have already arrived in Indonesia's capital of Jakarta, the venue of the sport event set to be held at the Jakarta International Velodrome Rawamangun from January 8 to 13.

The number of the participants of the regional sport event has reached 297 and includes racers from several Asian nations, exceeding the previous target of 255 athletes.

"It is surprise, when we saw the number in entry name was 255, but, the fact is more than that," Nugroho told a press conference.

The racers from China, Japan, and South Korea are among the tough opponents in the upcoming sport event, the coach of the Indonesian team said.

Indonesia has sent a total of 28 athletes to compete 15 sports in the event. Enditem
