TOKYO -- Nissan Motor Co. CEO Hiroto Saikawa said Monday he is anticipating wide-reaching changes towards decentralizing power in the structure of the automaker's board following allegations that its former Chairman Carlos Ghosn defrauded the company.

"I am anticipating a quite deep and wide recommendation from the committee set by Nissan to improve corporate governance and I am ready to accept a fundamental change," Saikawa was quoted as telling local media Monday. (Japan-Nissan)

WELLINGTON -- Scientists from New Zealand, China, Italy and France will set off on Tuesday to undertake a six-week research voyage to Antarctica and the Southern Ocean on board New Zealand research vessel Tangaroa for its 13th voyage to Antarctica.

The 21 scientists on board, supported by 19 crew members, will be studying ocean, atmosphere and ecosystem processes with the focus on establishing monitoring programs for the newly created Ross Sea Region Marine Protected Area (MPA), a statement from the National Institute of Water and Atmospheric Research (NIWA) said on Monday. KUALA LUMPUR -- Members of Malaysia's royal families met on Monday to set dates to choose a new king after the resignation of Sultan Muhammad V as the country's head of state.

Sultans of Malaysia's states decided to set Jan. 24 as the date on which they would convene to discuss the appointment of a new king, while Jan. 31 as the date on which the new king will be sworn in, according to a statement by the Conference of Rulers. (Malaysia-King)
