DAMASCUS, Jan. 7 (Xinhua) -- As many as 6,404 Syrian refugees have returned to Syria from Jordan since October of 2018, state news agency SANA reported on Monday.

And 404 refugees have returned to Syria since the beginning of January 2019, said the report.

The return of Syrian refugees from Jordan comes on the heels of re-opening the Nasib border crossing between both countries in October.

The Nasib-Jaber crossing had been closed since 2015 when the rebels took over it but was re-opened last October when the Syrian Army captured the southern province of Daraa.

SANA said the return of refugees from Jordan is increasing on daily basis as a result of the "facilitation" provided by the Syrian government.

It's estimated that 1.4 million Syrian refugees are located in Jordan. Enditem
