UNITED NATIONS -- Renewed violence in Myanmar's northern state of Rakhine, where about a million Rohingya have fled since 2017, has displaced thousands of people in the past week, a UN spokesman said on Tuesday.
Stephane Dujarric, the spokesman, said that since the latest eruption of violence last Friday, an estimated 4,500 people have fled their homes in the state. (UN-Myanmar-Humanitarian)

WASHINGTON -- Global economic growth is projected to slow to 2.9 percent in 2019 from a downwardly revised 3 percent in 2018 amid rising downside risks, the World Bank said on Tuesday.
In its newly-released Global Economic Prospects report, the World Bank said the outlook for the global economy "has darkened" as global financing conditions have tightened, trade tensions "have intensified," and some large emerging market and developing economies have experienced significant financial market stress. WASHINGTON -- The U.S. Treasury Department announced Tuesday that sanctions have been imposed upon several Venezuelan individuals and groups.
The Treasury Department accused seven individuals and 23 entities involved in a corruption scheme designed to take advantage of the Government of Venezuela's currency exchange practices, generating more than 2.4 billion U.S. dollars in corrupt proceeds, according to a statement issued by the department.
