SINGAPORE, Jan. 9 (Xinhua) -- Singapore stocks closed higher on Wednesday, with the benchmark Straits Times Index (STI) going up 1.12 percent, or 35.13 points, to close at 3,158.07.
A total of 1.6 billion shares changed hands with a turnover of 1.12 billion Singapore dollars (about 828.52 million U.S. dollars). Gainers outnumbered losers by 250 to 144.
The STI index went up 0.65 percent, or 20.14 points, to close at 3,122.94 on Tuesday. Enditem
