VLADIVOSTOK, Russia, Jan. 10 (Xinhua) -- A batch of 30 Soviet T-34 tanks from Laos has arrived in the city of Vladivostok, the Russian Defense Ministry said Wednesday.

The combat vehicles will be delivered to the city of Naro-Fominsk by rail, the ministry said in a statement.

According to the ministry, the tanks will be used during Victory Day parades, as well as in museum expositions and films about the 1941-1945 Great Patriotic War.

The T-34 was a technological breakthrough for its time, the ministry said. Between 1940 and 1946, the Soviet Union produced over 58,000 such tanks.

According to TASS news agency, the Soviet tanks were handed over to Laos three decades ago. The agreement on the transfer of the tanks was reached during Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu's visit to Laos in January 2018. Enditem
