ATHENS, Jan. 10 (Xinhua) -- The University of the Aegean on Greece's Lesvos island remained closed on Thursday, after seven persons were transferred to hospital on Wednesday evening with health problems after the opening of an envelope which contained a suspicious substance.

The five administrative employees, a legal counsel and a police officer suffered mainly from eye irritation and on Thursday they were still hospitalized as a precaution measure, Greek national news agency AMNA reported.

The envelope was addressed to the University's rector and was sent from India, according to initial information.

A group of experts from Athens travelled to the northern Aegean Sea island to receive the envelope for examination. Enditem
