HAVANA -- Seven people, including four foreign tourists, were killed and 33 others injured in a bus accident that occurred in eastern Cuba, local media reported on Friday.

Among those killed were two Argentine women, a German and a French. The Thursday accident also claimed the lives of three Cubans, according to Radio Guantanamo. (Cuba-Bus-Accident)

BERLIN -- Germany's budget surplus in 2018 is expected to reach 11.2 billion euros (12.8 billion U.S. dollars), thanks to higher than expected tax revenue and lower spending, preliminary figures showed on Friday.

DAMASCUS -- The Syrian air defenses intercepted most of the missiles launched by Israeli warplanes on areas near the capital Damascus on Friday night, the Syrian army said.

UNITED NATIONS -- The United Nations on Friday stepped up its battle against starvation in Yemen with a 32-million-U.S. dollar transfer of funds from its Central Emergency Response Fund to the humanitarian relief effort in the war-scarred country.
