KUWAIT CITY, Jan. 12 (Xinhua) -- Kuwait will host the third Kuwait-U.S. Strategic Dialogue Session on Jan. 15 with an aim of further cementing relations and cooperation between the two countries, the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) said on Saturday.

This year's session will be co-chaired by the Kuwaiti Foreign Minister Sheikh Sabah Khalid Al-Hamad Al-Sabah and U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, KUNA said.

The strategic dialogue will set a roadmap for cooperation between Kuwait and the U.S. for the next 25 years in different fields, KUNA said.

Lawrence Silverman, U.S. ambassador to Kuwait, said on Saturday that the two countries seek, through strategic dialogue, to boost cooperation and coordination over regional and international issues.

The U.S. delegation to the strategic dialogue will exchange views over pressing regional challenges including Yemen, Syria and Iran, said Silverman, in addition to bolstering counter-terrorism cooperation and coordination within the UN Security Council.

Established in October 2016, the previous Strategic Dialogue sessions were held in the U.S. in 2016 and 2017, during which the two countries signed cooperation agreements and MoUs over security, counter-terrorism, economy, trade, education, oil, custom and consular affairs. Enditem
