AMMAN, Jan. 13 (Xinhua) -- Jordan and Egypt on Sunday reiterated their support to the Palestinians' legitimate rights of establishing a Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital.

In talks in Amman, King Abdullah II of Jordan and Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah al-Sisi underscored the importance of increasing efforts at the international level to end the Palestinian-Israeli conflict and realize a lasting and just peace, on the basis of the two-state solution and the 2002 Arab Peace Initiative, the state-run Petra news agency reported.

The two leaders called for an immediate end of the Israeli escalation in Jerusalem and for ending all violations against the Al Aqsa Mosque.

On Syria, they called for intensified efforts to realize a political solution that preserves the unity and the integrity of Syria.

Their discussions also covered the war on terrorism and the need for international and regional efforts to uproot terrorism in line with a comprehensive strategy.
