Belgian Georges Leekens named Iran's Tractor Sazi head coach

TEHRAN, Jan. 13 (Xinhua) -- Belgian Georges Leekens was named as new head coach of Iranian top-flight soccer club of Tractor Sazi on Sunday, according to Tehran Times daily.

The 69-year-old coach replaced Welshman John Toshack.

Leekens most recently coached Tunisian soccer club Etoile Sportive du Sahel.

The Belgian started his coaching career in 1984 at Cercle Brugge and has also worked as head coach in Belgium, Hungary, Algeria and Tunisia national soccer teams as well as Belgian clubs Anderlecht, Lokeren, Gent, Club Brugge, Kortrijk, Charleroi, and Excelsior Mouscron.

The details of Leekens's contract have not been revealed.
