NAIROBI, Jan. 14 (Xinhua) -- The following are the news highlights in Kenyan media outlets on Monday.

-- Deputy President William Ruto yesterday moved to stop an implosion in the ruling Jubilee Party over his 2022 State House bid, even as he dismissed claims of divisions in the party and insisted he was "fully" behind President Uhuru Kenyatta. (Daily Nation)

-- Kisumu Governor Anyang' Nyong'o who was admitted to Aga Khan Hospital on Saturday, has been transferred to a hospital in Nairobi. Doctors at Aga Khan recommended the transfer, although they said the governor's condition had improved. (Standard)

-- About 350 newly purchased police assault weapons, part of a 10,000-gun consignment, were secretly transferred from Nairobi but intercepted in Nakuru.

The weapons, AK-47s and G3 rifles, were quietly removed from a police warehouse in Nairobi on New Year's Eve. They were intercepted by police in Nakuru where they are being guarded. (Star) Enditem
