BEIJING -- Chinese stocks closed lower on Monday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index down 0.71 percent, at 2,535.77 points.

The Shenzhen Component Index closed 0.87 percent lower at 7,409.20 points.

PHNOM PENH -- Cambodia's stocks finished higher on Monday, with the Cambodia Securities Exchange Index up 10.39 points, or 1.9 percent, to close at 557.83.

A total of 26,806 shares worth 159.8 million riel (39,847 U.S. dollars) were traded.

SYDNEY -- The Australian share market was marginally lower on Monday with a drop in energy stocks the main weight on the market.

At the close of the market, the benchmark S&P/ASX 200 was down 1.20 points or 0.021 percent at 5,773.40, while the broader All Ordinaries index was down 1.60 points or 0.027 percent at 5,833.20.

VIENTIANE -- The Lao stock market on Monday increased 0.06 percent compared to the previous trading day.

The Lao Securities Exchange composite index increased by 0.45 points, reaching 817.82 points after closing.

SEOUL -- Seoul shares ended lower Monday.

The benchmark Korea Composite Stock Price Index (KOSPI) fell 11.05 points, or 0.53 percent, to settle at 2,064.52. Trading volume stood at 427.9 million shares worth 4.9 trillion won (4.4 billion U.S. dollars).

South Korea's currency finished at 1,123.0 won against the greenback, down 6.6 won from the prior close.

MANILA -- Philippine shares closed 1.52 percent higher on Monday.

The benchmark Philippine Stock Exchange index increased by 120.05 points to 8,024.14. The all-share index went up by 56.45 points, or 1.19 percent, to 4,786.60.

HANOI -- Stock market index of Vietnam's capital Hanoi, HNX-Index, closed at 101.58 points on Monday, down 0.29 points or 0.28 percent from the previous trading session.

More than 33 million shares worth around 377.4 billion Vietnamese dong (16.4 million U.S. dollars) were traded at the Hanoi Stock Exchange on Monday.

HONG KONG -- Hong Kong stocks closed down 368.94 points, or 1.38 percent, to 26,298.33 points on Monday.

The benchmark Hang Seng Index traded between 26,195.78 and 26,575.33. Turnover totaled 73.69 billion Hong Kong dollars (about 9.40 billion U.S. dollars).

KUALA LUMPUR -- The Malaysian stock market ended lower here on Monday.

The Kuala Lumpur Composite Index (KLCI) was at 1,676.1622, down 7.06 points or 0.42 percent, and the Emas was at 11,558.25, down 59.78 points or 0.51 percent.

SINGAPORE -- Singapore stocks closed lower on Monday, with the benchmark Straits Times Index (STI) going down 0.79 percent or 25.19 points to close at 3173.46.

A total of 1.28 billion shares changed hands with a turnover of 727.42 million Singapore dollars (about 537.24 million U.S. dollars). Losers outnumbered gainers by 242 to 142.

MUMBAI -- Indian markets closed lower on Monday.

All the sectoral indices were trading in red led by bank, auto and infra stocks.
