LUSAKA, Jan. 15 (Xinhua) -- Zambian Vice President Inonge Wina on Monday called on security divisions to thoroughly investigate the kidnapping and deportation of a Russian gemstone miner in Copperbelt Province.

Sergey Kuznetsov, who worked for Gemcanton Emerald Mine in the Lufwanyama district, was last week deported from the country in unclear circumstances.

He told local media that he was abducted from the mine premises by foreign security guards employed by the mine, and bundled into a vehicle which drove him to the airport.

Wina said that security divisions should investigate the whole matter as it is a scandal and has potential to undermine the security of the country, according to the state broadcaster, Zambia National Broadcasting Corporation. Enditem
