TOKYO, Jan. 16 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks lost ground Wednesday morning as investors chose to secure profits following the Nikkei's recent gains, with sentiment dented by concerns over Britain's problematic plan to leave the European Union.
The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average lost 140.97 points, or 0.69 percent, from Tuesday to 20,414.32.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, fell 8.06 points, or 0.52 percent, at 1,534.66.
Oil and coal product, mining and rubber product-linked issues comprised those that declined the most by the morning break. Enditem
