SINGAPORE, Jan. 16 (Xinhua) -- Singaporean stocks closed higher on Wednesday, with the benchmark Straits Times Index (STI) going up 0.52 percent, or 16.81 points, to close at 3,229.11.
A total of 1.12 billion shares changed hands with a turnover of 1.00 billion Singapore dollars (about 740.74 million U.S. dollars). Gainers outnumbered losers by 216 to 174.
The STI index went up 1.22 percent, or 38.84 points, to close at 3,212.30 Tuesday. Enditem
