HO CHI MINH CITY -- VN-Index, the stock market index of Ho Chi Minh City bourse in southern Vietnam, closed at 908.70 points on Wednesday, down 0.98 points, or 0.11 percent, against the previous trading day's closing session.

On Wednesday, VN30-Index, the new benchmark index for the southern bourse, which tracks the 30 leading stocks by both market capitalization and liquidity, closed at 864.29 points, down 0.81 points or 0.09 percent.

MUMBAI -- Indian markets closed flat with positive note on Wednesday.

The benchmark S&P, BSE Sensex closed at 36,321.29, 2.96 points or 0.01 percent up compared to its previous close at 36,318.33.

HANOI -- Stock market index of Vietnam's capital Hanoi, HNX-Index, closed at 101.99 points on Wednesday, down 0.6 points or 0.58 percent from the previous trading session.

Prices of 69 stocks went up, 64 stocks dropped, while 244 stocks remained unchanged.

BANGKOK -- The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) index Wednesday moved up 0.41 points, or 0.03 percent, to close at 1,577.41 points.

Some 16.49 billion shares worth 50.22 billion baht (about 1.58 billion U.S. dollars) changed hands.

JAKARTA -- Indonesia shares closed higher by 4.5 points, or 0.07 percent, to a level of 6,413.36 on Wednesday.

Some 515,028 transactions were booked, involving 13.5 billion copies of shares with a value of 9.9 trillion rupiah (about 700.4 million U.S. dollars).

SINGAPORE -- Singaporean stocks closed higher on Wednesday, with the benchmark Straits Times Index (STI) going up 0.52 percent, or 16.81 points, to close at 3,229.11.

The STI index went up 1.22 percent, or 38.84 points, to close at 3,212.30 Tuesday.

KUALA LUMPUR -- The Malaysian stock market ended lower here on Wednesday.

The Kuala Lumpur Composite Index (KLCI) was at 1,673.08 down 6.34 points or 0.38 percent, and the Emas was at 11,580.89 down 17.49 points or 0.15 percent.

HONG KONG -- Hong Kong stocks closed up 71.81 points, or 0.27 percent, to 26,902.1 points on Wednesday.

The benchmark Hang Seng Index traded between 26,567.52 and 26,903.78. Turnover totaled 87.47 billion Hong Kong dollars (about 11.16 billion U.S. dollars).

TOKYO -- Tokyo stocks closed lower Wednesday as investors opted to lock in profits made recently while concerns mounted over the future course of Britain leaving the European Union after an exit deal was voted down in parliament a day earlier.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average dropped 112.54 points, or 0.55 percent, from Tuesday to close the day at 20,442.75.

VIENTIANE -- The Lao stock market closed on Wednesday unchanged compared to the previous trading day.

The Lao Securities Exchange composite index remained at 818.16 points after closing.

MANILA -- Philippine shares closed 1.86 percent lower on Wednesday.

The benchmark Philippine Stock Exchange index decreased by 148.72 points to 7,864.70. The all-share index went down by 73.49 points, or 1.54 percent, to 4,715.13.

SEOUL -- Seoul shares ended higher Wednesday.

South Korea's currency finished at 1,120.1 won against the greenback, up 0.6 won from the previous close.

SYDNEY -- The Australian share market was higher on Wednesday, shrugging off losses in the materials sector to climb steadily throughout trading.

At the close of market the benchmark S&P/ASX 200 index was up 20.60 points or 0.35 percent at 5,835.20, while the broader All Ordinaries 21.90 points or 0.37 percent at 5,893.70.

PHNOM PENH -- Cambodia's stocks finished higher on Wednesday, with the Cambodia Securities Exchange Index up 8.41 points, or 1.49 percent, to close at 572.16.
