FRANKFURT, Jan. 16 (Xinhua) -- German stocks edged up on Wednesday, with the benchmark DAX index up 39.45 points, or 0.36 percent, to close at 10,931.24 points.
Deutsche Bank won the most among the blue chips, with its shares up 8.39 percent. German airlines Lufthansa and material manufacturer Covestro rose by 3.58 percent and 2.53 percent respectively.
Industrial giant Thyssenkrupp lost the most among the blue chips, by falling 1.55 percent. Chemical and consumer goods company Henkel and automotive supplier Continental went down by 1.44 percent and 1.10 percent respectively.
German insurance and financial services company Allianz was the most-traded share, with a turnover of 172.5 million euros (196.4 million U.S. dollars). Enditem
