NEW DELHI -- A local court in northern Indian state of Haryana Thursday sentenced self-styled "godman" and spiritual guru Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh, along with three others, to life imprisonment for the murder of a journalist in 2002, officials said.
Last week the special court designated to hear the case had convicted the self-styled godman and his three accomplices for the murder of local journalist and newspaper editor Ram Chander Chhatrapati. (India-Godman-Sentence)

MANILA -- The Philippines will further anti-corruption cooperation with China after a collaboration between the two sides resulted in the capturing of a wanted Chinese duty-crime fugitive, a high-level Philippine anti-corruption official said on Thursday.

TOKYO -- Japan's labor ministry on Thursday launched a probe into the release of faulty jobs and wage data spanning a period of a decade or more that resulted in more than 20 million people not receiving their full benefits.

TOKYO -- Ousted Nissan Motor Co. Chairman Carlos Ghosn's lawyers on Thursday filed an appeal with a Tokyo court after it rejected their client's request for bail to be granted earlier this week.
