KIEV, Jan. 17 (Xinhua) -- Ukraine attracted about 57.1 million U.S. dollars in international aid for the post-conflict recovery in the eastern region of Donbas in 2018, the Ukrainian Ministry for Temporarily Occupied Territories and Displaced Persons said on Thursday.
Daria Borovik, the ministry's spokesperson, told a press conference in Kiev that the funds were used to support internally displaced persons and implement peacebuilding projects in the conflict-hit regions.
The five-year conflict between the government troops and armed groups in eastern Ukraine has uprooted about 2 million Ukrainians from their homes and left thousands of infrastructure facilities destroyed or damaged.
The Ukrainian government estimated that the economic damage from the conflict at about 50 billion dollars. Enditem
