RIO DE JANEIRO, Jan. 17 (Xinhua) -- Brazil on Thursday strongly condemned a car bomb attack earlier in the day in Bogota, Colombia, which has left 10 killed and dozens wounded.

In a statement released by the Foreign Ministry, Brazil stressed its disapproval of all acts of terrorism and expressed condolences to and solidarity with the victims' families.

The attack took place at General Santander Police Academy in southern Bogota. The attacker, identified as Jose Aldemar Rojas, drove a car loaded with 80 kg of explosives into the academy.

He detonated the bomb after he rammed his car into the academy at full speed and ignored the calls of the guards to stop, according to local police.

Local media reported that more than 50 cadets were wounded and Rojas, 57, is believed to have died in the bombing.

No group has claimed responsibility for the attack. Investigation is under way. Enditem
