DAMASCUS -- At least 20 civilians were killed on Friday by U.S.-led airstrikes on an Islamic State (IS)-held area in Syria's eastern province of Deir al-Zour, state news agency SANA reported.

Women and children were among those killed by the airstrikes, which targeted the town of Baghus, one of the last two towns still controlled by the IS in the eastern countryside of Deir al-Zour. (US-IS-Airstrike)

WASHINGTON -- U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo will meet here Friday with Kim Yong Chol, vice chairman of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea's (DPRK) ruling Korean Workers' Party Central Committee, the U.S. State Department said on Friday.

Pompeo and Kim are scheduled to meet in Washington at 11 a.m. (1600GMT) Friday, the State Department said on its official website. (US-DPRK-Meeting)

ADDIS ABABA -- Ethiopia said on Friday it has arrested 60 individuals for their suspected roles in ethnic violence in the western part of the country.
