ROME, Jan. 17 (Xinhua) -- The first book on the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC) written in Italian was launched Thursday at an event attended by officials from the Chinese Embassy in Italy and the Italian Communist Party (ICP).

Crowning a year of work by some Italian experts in Chinese politics, the book "La Cina della Nuova Era," or New Era China, tries to analyze China's New Era through the lens of the report delivered by Chinese President Xi Jinping at the 19th CPC National Congress in 2017.

This is the first book in Italian on the 19th CPC National Congress, which is an interesting reflection for the Italian people in order to know the CPC, said Zheng Xuan, minister-counselor of the Chinese Embassy in Italy during a keynote speech.

With Xi's report as a backbone, the book features nine thematic chapters. Every author took on a different aspect of China's New Era, which includes the country's domestic policy, diplomacy, high-quality development transition, ecological civilization and rural vitalization, among others.

The book also includes a preface signed by Chinese Ambassador to Italy Li Ruiyu.

According to China expert Francesco Maringio, the leading author of the book and head of the ICP foreign affairs department, what makes the book unique is its analysis of China on the basis of its particular political system, in order to analyze it in the most objective way possible.

"Western media and scholars usually lack the ability to put themselves in Chinese decision-makers' shoes, so they try to describe China while ignoring its particular political system, giving us a distorted image of the country. We think that in order to really understand China, it is mandatory to understand its political system, so we choose to take it as the starting point of our analysis," said Maringio.

During the event, experts and ICP officials also lauded China's social and economic achievements, and appreciated the crucial role that the CPC played in China's development.

"History cannot be measured in years or centuries, but it can be measured in transformations, and the Chinese transformation is the most important social transformation process in the history of the world," said c, editor-in-chief of the Italian political-cultural association Marx21.

"This has been possible also because of the quality of Chinese political leaders, who always overcame contradictions in a proper way," Catone added.

Bruno Steri, a member of the ICP National Secretariat, said the book is useful to counter those voices that speak about China with prejudice. Enditem
