Egypt condemns bomb attack against police academy in Colombia

CAIRO, Jan. 19 (Xinhua) -- Egypt condemned on Saturday a bomb attack targeting a Colombian police academy which left at least 21 people dead.

Cairo offered its deepest condolences to the victims' families and wished the injured a speedy recovery, said a statement by the Egyptian Foreign Ministry.

On Thursday, a car broke through checkpoints onto the grounds of the General Santander School in the Colombian capital of Bogota before it detonated.

Egypt stressed its government and people's support for Colombia in its efforts to combat terrorism.

Cairo rejects all forms of violence, extremism and terrorism, reiterating its call for pooling international anti-terrorism efforts to eliminate this phenomenon wherever it exists, the ministry statement added. Enditem
