TOKYO, Jan. 20 (Xinhua) -- Mima Ito won the women's singles final at Japan's national championships on Sunday, pocketing triple title at one tournament for the second straight year.

Ito won the mixed doubles with Masataka Morizono on Thursday, and the women's doubles with Hina Hayata on Saturday, before she beat Miyu Kihara 4-1 in the singles final for her third championship at Maruzen Intec Arena Osaka.

"I'm mostly relieved. Of course I'm happy, but I'm also relieved," Ito said. "I didn't think I would be able to defend my three titles so I'm surprised and happy."

Kihara surprised the spectators with her fourth-game win, but failed to become the youngest national singles champion at 14 years and five months old in the final as Ito won 13-11, 11-9, 11-6, 9-11, 11-5. Enditem
