PARIS, Jan. 20 (Xinhua) -- Ligue 1 club Paris Saint-Germain confirmed on Sunday that Marco Verratti suffered a twisted left ankle while needing further examinations over the coming days.

Verratti limped off in the first half of PSG's 9-0 rout of bottom side Guingamp on Saturday.

"Marco Verratti's MRI scan conducted after the match against Guingamp confirmed a twisted left ankle without any further damage," the club said in a statement.

"The evolution of the injury over the coming days with treatment and further examinations will allow the club to establish how long the player will need to fully recover," it added.

Despite sitting atop the table with a 13-point advantage in domestic league, PSG face an uphill challenge in the first leg of UEFA Champions League round of 16 against Premier League outfit Manchester United next month. Enditem
