MEXICO CITY -- A pipeline explosion in central Mexico has so far left 85 people dead, Health Minister Jorge Alcocer said on Sunday.

MAIDAN SHAR, Afghanistan -- At least 18 people were killed and 27 others wounded after a Taliban car bomb explosion hit an Afghan Special Forces' station in Maidan Shar, capital of eastern Wardak province on Monday, a local official said.

"About 18 killed and 27 injured, mostly military personnel, were admitted into a main public health hospital in Maidan Shar following Monday morning's blast. And some injured were shifted to the national capital of Kabul for intensive care treatment," Mohammad Salim Asghar, director of the provincial health department, told Xinhua. SEOUL -- South Korean Foreign Minister Kang Kyung-wha and U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo held phone talks Monday morning over the second summit between the Democratic People's Republic of Korea and the United States, according to Seoul's Foreign Ministry.

DAMASCUS -- The Syrian air defenses responded to heavy Israeli strikes early Monday, destroying most of the missiles before they reached their targets, the Syrian state TV reported.

The Israeli attacks were carried out from inside the Lebanese airspace and the Israeli-controlled territories in the Galilee, the state TV said, citing a Syrian military source.

The Syrian air defenses immediately dealt with the situation and intercepted most of the missiles, destroying "tens of enemy targets," according to the TV. (Syria-Israel-Missile Strike) Enditem
